We are delighted to announce that Hooked-on Group has been awarded the Advanced Award under the SHINE Scheme, the new regional standard for quality employment, which replaces the former Good Work Pledge.
Launched by the North East Combined Authority, the SHINE Scheme-Supporting and Harnessing Innovation, Nurturing Employment, recognises businesses that go above and beyond to create great workplaces where staff feel supported, valued, and inspired. The scheme is built around five key pillars: Valuing and Developing the Workforce, Promoting Health and Wellbeing, Effective Communications and Representation, Developing a Balanced Workforce, and Social Responsibility.
Receiving the Advanced Award highlights our group’s continued commitment to investing in our people, championing workplace wellbeing, and fostering inclusive, flexible, and sustainable employment practices across all our restaurants-Blackfriars, Dobson & Parnell, and Hinnies.
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive the Advanced SHINE Award,” said Ruth Terrington, Operations Director of Hooked-on Group. “Our team is at the heart of everything we do, and this recognition reflects the genuine care we take in supporting staff wellbeing, career development, equality, and sustainability. We’re proud to be a business that not only provides excellent food and service but also strives to be a great place to work.”
Hooked-on Group previously held the Good Work Pledge, and this latest accreditation signals a continued evolution and strengthening of our people-first ethos. From mental health support and flexible working options to training opportunities and wellbeing initiatives like the HOG Trotters running club, we aim to lead the way in building rewarding and responsible careers in hospitality.
As we look ahead, we’ll continue to shine a light on excellence in employment and remain committed to creating meaningful, fulfilling roles for our current and future team members.
